WE HAVE A THIRST FOR GOOD BEER & KNOWLEDGE
Say it with me - “sir- vee - chay”.
It's the fancy dish you see on a menu and think - I can’t even pronounce it let alone know what it is! It sure is a mouthful, but in all the right ways.
More than just freshly sliced sweet fish or shell fish that has been perfectly marinated in citrus and herbs, Ceviche is steeped in history. This delicious fish salad originated in Peru, around 3500 - 1500 BC, and like beer culture in Belgium, is genuinely considered an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
So why do we love it so much?
Well, the citric acid breaks down the protein, tenderising it, leaving it melt in your mouth delicious.
The citrus flavours and herbs add depth and balance to the saltiness of the fish, making it the perfect food pairing for things like Rice Lager, Tropical Hazy Pales, Rieslings and last weeks thirsty thursday, Sauvignon Blanc.
When you think beer you don’t have to just think hot wings or burgers. Sometimes a sexy fish salad also hits the spot.
And because it gets your mouthhole watering so much, it’s actually perfect with just about any style of white wine, crisp craft beer and busy days in the brewery when we are hangry and don’t want a burger in our faces.
Don’t be afraid to say it because if you haven’t already, you gotta try it! With a lager, because … YUM!
